South Coast Surf Academy was established in 2002 by Dan Keelan who has been an accredited Surfing Australia surf instructor since 1997.  Dan has worked for 10 surf schools around Australia and abroad and has taken all the positives from these to develop his own school.

 

Dan and his wife Meg (former #1 surf student) conduct surf lessons at Surfers Parade, Middleton on South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula – the same beach where Dan learned to surf and where his parents also met as teenagers learning to surf.  South Coast Surf Academy is Middleton’s only owner operated surf school.

 

On a small swell, sunny day with light offshore winds, Middleton is one of Australia’s best and safest beaches to learn to surf at. During our fun filled, action packed lessons you can expect to learn about ocean awareness, surf safety, board handling, prone to feet techniques and crash positions.  We operate year round on request (bookings essential) and provide everything you need including top of the range soft Malibu surfboards, high quality full length Roxy and Quiksilver wetsuits and all the instructions in and out of the water for 2 hours for $40 pp.

 

Dan and Meg’s lessons are also frequented by marine life.  Whales are often seen behind the breakers from June through October along with dolphins and the occasion seal demonstrating body surfing skills throughout the year.
